Helping the Poor - Drug Rehab Center / Rancho de Cristo / Abused Women's Shelter

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)”

The Rehabilitation Center is a path to freedom for men who are willing to be delivered from the bondage of drugs and alcohol through the power of Jesus Christ. The center offers a six-month program utilizing prayer, fasting, and Bible study as a means of developing a vital relationship with Christ, whom we believe is the only one who can set the captives free.

The vision for the Rehabilitation Center was born in the heart of Glenn Almeraz, who himself was transformed by the power of God at a Christian rehabilitation center in San Diego, California. While attending the Mission’s Bible Institute, he met his wife Rosa, who works with him in the ministry. While serving in Outreach, Glenn became aware of the desperate need for a place where men could go to be set free by the same power that had delivered him. Glenn purchased a piece of property in Zapata, a town just north of the Mission, pulled a converted bus and camper on the lot, built a small meeting room out of donated materials and glass paneled doors, and began ministering to those who wanted to be set free.

With the help of workgroups that visited the Mission from the U.S. and Canada, a beautiful house has been constructed. The residents are constantly making improvements to the property, including a church.

Learning to work hard and be active in the service of God are important parts of the program. A garden and a few farm animals are kept to provide food and develop responsibility. Residents participate in outreach ministry to jails, migrant work camps and bar zones, as well as attend services in the local church. Days are periodically set aside for seeking God in His Work, prayer, and fasting.

Although not everyone who comes to the Rehabilitation Center is permanently set free, those who complete the program, in most cases, have been delivered. Graduates are offered a “second step” at Rancho de Christo, a new facility that is now being developed, where they continue to be encouraged in the ways of God.

Plans to adapt and expand a building on a nearby property are being developed for a shelter for abused women, another desperately need ministry in the San Quintin Valley.  Your prayers, labor and finances are greatly appreciated for these poor in spirit.
