Weekly Prayer & Praise

Our speaker for Friday, September 6 is Steve. He became a believer
in the Lord Jesus Christ when he was 20 years old and soon began
telling the stories from the Word of God to others. When he was 54,
he had a health scare which could have cost him his life. After three months of recovery, and out of appreciation for a spared life, he promised God
he would memorize and dramatize the Gospel of John. Now Steve
presents the Gospel of John to individuals and groups,
making Jesus’ amazing miracles and message come alive.
Steve tells the Gospel of John from memory and in a storytelling fashion.

Scholars suggest that close to ninety percent of people in Jesus' day
could not read or write, so this is an example of how people
of the first century may have heard the Gospel of John told.

Steve tries to maintain close to a ninety-five percent accuracy
with the version of the text he is using. That version, the "Logos 21 Version"
of the Gospel of John (found all around Orange County, CA.,
in evangelistic outreach) can be found online at: LivingWater.org.

Steve has been married to Diane for 41 years, has two grown,
married sons, and loves to tell the stories of Jesus. They both hail from Minneapolis, MN, and Diane, as Pastor Leland well knows, grew up in the very church (Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls, in Minneapolis) that he first interned for when he was going to Seminary in St. Paul, MN.

You won’t want to miss this dramatic presentation. Please call in your reservations by Wednesday, September 4 at noon to (949)492-2200.

As per Mary regarding Dirk: “We visited the doctor and the result
of the surgery was that indeed it was Medullary thyroid cancer.
The thyroid was removed, and we understand they also removed
all the lymph nodes in the neck. On the right side of the neck
they removed 67 lymph nodes and 11 had cancer in it. So far,
the result of the blood work is okay. The weakness and fatigue
are normal after such an extensive surgery. We have another
appointment with the surgeon on September 4. We are very
thankful to God and thank you so much for your prayers,
love and care. That means so much to us.”

Did you know that hundreds are being fed
in our soup kitchen at the Baja Mission?

Did you know that we distribute hundreds of “despensas” food for
the hungry each month in Baja? Thank you to all who participate.

What manner of love is this? Can you imagine being hosted
by a group to a waterpark and given the gift of pizza when formerly
you were living in abject poverty? “In as much as you have
done it to the least of these, you have done it to me."

Again, there is hope in the future for these little ones.

Everett and Lois: Several years ago, Everett taught in our Bible Institute
