fourth of july.png

During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain in 1776 on July 4th came when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence.

Charla was born on the Fourth of July in Detroit, Michigan.
Eastwood Park celebrated with a fireworks show which we watched from the roof of our home. I didn’t know that they were celebrating the Fourth of July until about age seven. My father told me they were celebrating my birthday!

Happy Fourth of July to you and yours.

SOUTH AMERICA

Please continue to pray for little Riker, the Pereau’s great grandchild.
He is having surgeries every three weeks.

ameila_pereau great grandchild_surgery.png

AMELIA

Update on Amelia, Dana Pereau and Antoinette’s grandchild
Late last year we learned that she was losing what little sight she has in her right eye due to a large cataract and deprivation Amblyopia. The lens must be replaced, but she also needs an iris to help filter light and improve vision. A unique surgery can remove and replace the useless lens at the same time as placing an iris where there never was one before; a rare procedure U.S. insurance companies have no billing code for yet.
Irises for this type of surgery are made in Germany,

Dr. Snyder of the Eye Institute of Cincinnati is the only surgeon in the U.S. who has ever performed this procedure and was responsible for its FDA approval. There was an opening in his schedule. Tom, Melissa and Amelia flew to Ohio in February, only to learn the bad news. Although Dr Snyder believed Amelia was a candidate and it could be successful, her insurance company in Washington said it absolutely could not be done; there was no billing code for it and specialists in WA denied it was possible. Funds would need to be sent to Germany immediately if they had any hope of Dr Snyder doing the dual procedure in the U.S. BUT GOD.

Tom and Melissa arranged for the wire transfer to Germany,
and they flew with Amelia for her surgery on June 27th.
Pray for a successful and speedy recovery.

LLOYD OGILVIE: 1931 - 2019

The dash in the middle has been a life filled with the Glory of God. Lloyd Ogilvie served as Pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church from 1972-1995. This charismatic leader was nominated for an Angel Award in 1987 for 12 Steps to Living Without Fear, but amazingly Charla's Children won the coveted award.

Subsequently, I was asked to give a testimony at
the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. I was greatly honored.
Lloyd served as 61st Chaplain to the US Senate for eight years.
In 2006, with Ogilvie's support, Fuller Theological Seminary established
the Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching, offering resources
that empower preachers to seek justice and lead others to join
God's mission in the world.

It has been a dream of mine since high school to travel outside of Canada

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

Many across the nation participated in the National Day of Prayer. The theme was Love One Another. This is a moment in American history when the church must rise as one to cry to God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
If love is to begin to take place across America, it must begin with us:
Love One Another! Every day should be a National Day of Prayer.

SAMUEL

Answered Prayer: On March 30, Samuel came into the world at 10:46 PM.
It took a medical team 6 minutes to resuscitate him. Samuel’s prognosis was not good. They arranged for a team of specialists to come to Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario; It looked like Samuel might not survive.
The pastor and his wife were there praying for a miracle. (Samuel was also on our prayer and praise letter.) On this one- month anniversary since Samuel’s birth, he woke up at home, whimpering to be fed. What a miracle!

Another children’s camp will be held this summer.
Camperships are still needed for a life changing transformation.

GRACIELA CORDOBA

A prayer request from Graciela while she was on a Baja outreach in Sinaloa, Mexico.

The theme we spoke on with the women was inner healing and the value of a woman. Two women were healed from wounds of their past through forgiveness. The surprising thing is what human beings are capable of doing when they are far from God. The stories that I heard there I have only seen on television. The need for God is very great. We need to call out to God for the salvation of these people. They are living an empty life with much sadness and darkness. What an opportunity to present to the children a different life in Christ Jesus!

Abel, Salvador, Raul and Mario were sharing every night the word of love and salvation that God has for men. I had the opportunity to pray for a field worker in that place, a man drowning in alcohol. We pray that God makes a total change. There the people live in laminate houses that are extremely hot and of course the mosquitos were ready to eat our blood and leave us their poison. Our niece Eveling was not doing well because of these bites. She had a high fever and her feet were swollen. Mario took her to a doctor because of the seriousness of her physical state. We were happy to take the Good News to this place.”

bible institute_juventino.png

JUVENTINO

Carlos Quijada, Bible Institute Director, writes about one of his students, Juventino from Santiago Jocotepec Choapan.

“I am writing about him because of his desire to know God better. He took a four day bus ride without a bathroom, without air conditioning, without a seat; just a blanket to lay down in the aisle so that he could rest a little. He traveled for more than 3,000 kilometers in these conditions. What made Juventino decide to come to the Bible Institute? It was the fact that when he came to know Jesus as his Savior, his desire was to know Him better.”

LAURA RODRIGUEZ

Laura, administrator from Oaxaca writes, “My doctor thinks
I need a tonsillectomy, and referred me to a surgeon. The surgeon
seemed to think a tonsillectomy is the best option too, however
he did his due diligence in making sure I know how difficult and painful
this will be. But when I think of the alternative, this constant discomfort
and complications, I am hoping a few weeks of pain is temporary
and worth it. So, my appointment is scheduled for July 11th

OUTREACH TO REHAB CENTERS

Inspired by conferences for women, leaders, and youth;
one of our staff members, Pablo, at the Oaxaca Mission,
had a vision of a conference for people in rehab centers.
That dream was realized this past weekend as we celebrated
the first Adulam Conference, (named after the cave
where those who were in distress or in debt
or discontented gathered around David) - 1 Samuel 22

Please pray for the men and women from various rehab centers in Oaxaca who were ministered to during this special weekend.

UNPLANNED

Praise God! Another Planned Parenthood center was
closed in costa Mesa, Ca. Bill Zersen writes: “Today I saw an
"AVAILABLE" sign on an abortion clinic of Planned Parenthood.
Asking the people inside the next-door church, they said that yes,
indeed the Planned Parenthood clinic had moved out and closed up completely! That is an unbelievably good Praise report as the church
and everyone there had been praying for the clinic to close for a long time.  Just like the clinic in the movie "UNPLANNED" which closed up,
this is another example of prayers making a major impact!

It is not too late to see the movie, in select theaters. It’s a must see.

for their grandson Samuel. He is almost one week old
and has been on a respirator. They have just taken him off of it
but the MRI shows severe neurological damage.

Please pray the damage is reversed and pray
for Samuel's parents, Ron and Marcela.

GRACIELA AND DULCE CORDOBA

Dulce, the youngest daughter of Mario and Graciela , writes:

“The Baja Mission church is organizing a mission’s trip to the
continent of Africa, specifically to Zimbabwe. The purpose of this trip
is to share the Gospel with children and adults, even though it will be
more focused on children. They are going to put together camps for the children as well as other activities. Almost three years ago, I had a dream
that I was in Africa and I knew when I woke up that I would go someday,
and I believe that time is now. When I found out the cost I wondered
if I would be able to go. But the person who is organizing
this trip told us that he understands it is a lot of money and that we
shouldn’t be ashamed to ask. If someone supports us, it is because
God moved on their heart and that it is a blessing from God.
What we will be doing is worth pushing aside our embarrassment
and to look for support.  And here I am, looking for support.”

Please pray for Dulce and other team members as they prepare for this trip. And pray that she is able to raise the needed support.

She sends challenging and delightful prayer requests regarding the homeless, foster children, crisis pregnancy, and now prison ministry. Ruth has her father’s passion to reach the lost… ”I believe our country is at war spiritually. Will you join me in praying and fasting for the unsaved and for our country?” Ezekiel 33:2-7a, II Chronicles 16:9 and Isaiah 6:8.  Ruth signs off, “Onward Christian Soldier.”

WATER IN NAIROBI

nairobi.png

CHILDREN IN NAIROBI

Trinity Fellowship is a subsidiary of FFHM. Missionaries, Godfrey and Elisabeth Dawkins, report a miraculous event. They were drilling for a well in Nairobi, Kenya. No one knew how deep they would have to drill before striking water, but Joanna had an amazing encounter with a heavenly being right when the rig arrived, “Here I am at a loss for words. How does one describe the indescribable?”

A tall angel in appearance like a standing column of moving water pouring down onto the drilling site, suddenly came sharply into focus before her. Sure enough, almost within minutes the well proved to be a gusher! Awesome! For technical reasons the engineers had to keep the water running for twenty-four hours. So, all through the night the local community swarmed onto the site with containers of all descriptions slung over the backs of donkeys, excitedly hauling the water away.”

RIKER

Urgent need for prayer:
Our son Dana sends an update on baby Riker. “Things have taken a serious turn for baby Riker. Yesterday he suffered a seizure. Now the neurologists at CHOLA are being called in. He was clearly not himself, even crying uncontrollably, 'I want my daddy,'  as Nate, his father, was holding him. Imagine terrible two mixed with I'm not sure who or where I am.

We are extremely concerned, and Dr. Melissa Pereau is now involved in trying to bring in another pediatric neurologist who specializes in Sturge Weber Syndrome. Last night he cried and fussed for hours back and forth between Nate and Alexandra, his mother. It is now 6:30 Tuesday morning and it is finally quiet.

connard and deanna hoffman.png

CONNARD AND DEANNA HOFFMAN

We often receive delightful greetings from Deanna.
I thought the following was exceptional.

There once was a man named Valentine,
Who challenged an edict in his time,
That forbade the marriage of soldier and bride.

For the Emperor feared that this would deride,
The ability of a man to fight without fear
To fight but with heart on the one He held dear.

So Valentine offered a solution to those,
A marriage in secret to those who chose,
To place their lives in The Hands of The Lord,
Choose marriage to bind with God’s strong cord!

For this Valentine was condemned to die,
The last note he wrote, said ” from your Valentine.”

So, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day,
I think of the love that prompted him to pray.

To God who is love in its purest form,
A love that goes far beyond the norm.
A love that so loved, God sent His Son Jesus to die,
Then rise again to sit at Father God’s right side!

Valentine knew the right thing to do,
He chose God’s way, even if his life he would lose!

Will I be like one named Valentine,
Who chose the right even though a crime?
Or will I go along with the flow,
In order to keep the friends that I now know?
Each new day God gives us a choice.
So, whom will you choose from heart and voice?

Joshua said” Choose you this day whom you will serve,
As for me and my house we will serve The Lord.”

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving; we can’t commercialize gratitude. My second most favorite holiday is Valentines Day. Legend has it that Valentine was imprisoned for his faith in Jesus about 270 C.E. St. Valentine sent heart shaped notes to encourage believers. Legend has it that he prayed for his jailer’s daughter and she was miraculously healed. Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he was to be put to death.

MARILYN AND DAVE BOTZENHARDT

Praise report, answered prayer!

Pastor Mike Bayer reports, “David’s doctor on Tuesday said he is now cancer free. He had cancer in his lungs. Dave has been taking a cancer-fighting drug for a few months now that has a lot of promise for certain cancer patients. We thank God for His inspiration to those doing medical research and the advances we’ve seen. Hundreds maybe thousands have been praying for Dave. Several besides Dave have had or have a cancer diagnosis. I saw in the Spirit people standing for prayer and the congregation coming around them to pray and felt God would heal some. But here’s the thing about prayer for healing: it’s not one person or one time (usually). It’s a combination or culmination of prayer over time by many people. There is often a moment when it all drops out of heaven and healing is manifested. Every person who has prayed for Dave is in on this blessing Everyone had a part in this. Was it the meds or the prayer? Medication can help, but ONLY GOD can heal.

CHERYL TREVOR

CHILDREN AT THE BEACH

Cheryl Trevor is the administrator of the Baja Mission school. She writes: "God brought some amazing staff from Canada and the U.S. as part of our school team of teachers. They upgraded our library and dozens of children are reading before we ring the morning bell. We received twenty new children between 8 and 12, some who had never been to school before. They create a challenge for us but it is wonderful to see answered prayer for each. It has taken a lot of effort but the smiles on their faces when they can read are priceless. Our favorite field trip was going to the beach to discover what lives inside the tide pools. The children built sand castles and did a scavenger hunt. They discovered a real octopus. That was a great moment.
