Weekly Prayer & Praise

steve.png

STEVE MAHONEY

Our speaker for Friday, September 6 is Steve. He became a believer
in the Lord Jesus Christ when he was 20 years old and soon began
telling the stories from the Word of God to others. When he was 54,
he had a health scare which could have cost him his life. After three months of recovery, and out of appreciation for a spared life, he promised God he would memorize and dramatize the Gospel of John. Now Steve presents the Gospel of John to individuals and groups,
making Jesus’ amazing miracles and message come alive.
Steve tells the Gospel of John from memory and in a storytelling fashion.

Scholars suggest that close to ninety percent of people in Jesus' day
could not read or write, so this is an example of how people
of the first century may have heard the Gospel of John told.

Steve tries to maintain close to a ninety-five percent accuracy
with the version of the text he is using. That version, the "Logos 21 Version"
of the Gospel of John (found all around Orange County, CA.,
in evangelistic outreach) can be found online at: LivingWater.org.

Steve has been married to Diane for 41 years, has two grown,
married sons, and loves to tell the stories of Jesus. They both hail from Minneapolis, MN, and Diane, as Pastor Leland well knows, grew up in the very church (Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls, in Minneapolis) that he first interned for when he was going to Seminary in St. Paul, MN.

You won’t want to miss this dramatic presentation. Please call in your reservations by Wednesday, September 4 at noon to (949)492-2200.

OUTREACH TO REHAB CENTERS

Inspired by conferences for women, leaders, and youth;
one of our staff members, Pablo, at the Oaxaca Mission,
had a vision of a conference for people in rehab centers.
That dream was realized this past weekend as we celebrated
the first Adulam Conference, (named after the cave
where those who were in distress or in debt
or discontented gathered around David) - 1 Samuel 22

Please pray for the men and women from various rehab centers in Oaxaca who were ministered to during this special weekend.

UNPLANNED

Praise God! Another Planned Parenthood center was
closed in costa Mesa, Ca. Bill Zersen writes: “Today I saw an
"AVAILABLE" sign on an abortion clinic of Planned Parenthood.
Asking the people inside the next-door church, they said that yes,
indeed the Planned Parenthood clinic had moved out and closed up completely! That is an unbelievably good Praise report as the church
and everyone there had been praying for the clinic to close for a long time.  Just like the clinic in the movie "UNPLANNED" which closed up,
this is another example of prayers making a major impact!

It is not too late to see the movie, in select theaters. It’s a must see.

BABY SAMUEL

Update on baby Samuel*: Holding eyes open, some brief squeals, latching on mom, sucking, got a little milk. We’re waiting to hear soon that Samuel really cries, swallows, and becomes active. We believe in miracles.

Please pray Jesus heals little Samuel’s brain.

*Samuel is our precious missionary friends, Greg and Angela's, grandson.

REVEREND JOHN LUCAS

The prayer group dinner was superb. Chuck sang to the glory of God, accompanied by John. The beautiful saga of how we met Reverend John Lucas was shared. It led to trips across Alberta and beyond. Then John shared the history of his ministry, which has changed the world.

The next prayer group dinner will be Saturday night, May 4. There is a conflict of schedule at the Lutheran Church. Once again, Saturday May 4 at 6 p.m. is the prayer group dinner. Please notify others of this date and day change.

but the MRI shows severe neurological damage.

Please pray the damage is reversed and pray
for Samuel's parents, Ron and Marcela.

GRACIELA AND DULCE CORDOBA

Dulce, the youngest daughter of Mario and Graciela , writes:

“The Baja Mission church is organizing a mission’s trip to the
continent of Africa, specifically to Zimbabwe. The purpose of this trip
is to share the Gospel with children and adults, even though it will be
more focused on children. They are going to put together camps for the children as well as other activities. Almost three years ago, I had a dream
that I was in Africa and I knew when I woke up that I would go someday,
and I believe that time is now. When I found out the cost I wondered
if I would be able to go. But the person who is organizing
this trip told us that he understands it is a lot of money and that we
shouldn’t be ashamed to ask. If someone supports us, it is because
God moved on their heart and that it is a blessing from God.
What we will be doing is worth pushing aside our embarrassment
and to look for support.  And here I am, looking for support.”

Please pray for Dulce and other team members as they prepare for this trip. And pray that she is able to raise the needed support.

When Dirk left, Benjamin Muciño took up this vital ministry.

Weekly Prayer & Praise - February 22, 2019

Thank you for praying. “Start each day with a grateful heart and do the kindest thing you
can do today and you will always be in the center of God’s will.”

This was the advice given to me by my mother when I was about 13.

riker_pereau grandchild.png

RIKER

Urgent need for prayer:
Our son Dana sends an update on baby Riker. “Things have taken a serious turn for baby Riker. Yesterday he suffered a seizure. Now the neurologists at CHOLA are being called in. He was clearly not himself, even crying uncontrollably, 'I want my daddy,'  as Nate, his father, was holding him. Imagine terrible two mixed with I'm not sure who or where I am.

We are extremely concerned, and Dr. Melissa Pereau is now involved in trying to bring in another pediatric neurologist who specializes in Sturge Weber Syndrome. Last night he cried and fussed for hours back and forth between Nate and Alexandra, his mother. It is now 6:30 Tuesday morning and it is finally quiet.
Please add him to your prayer list.

CORRINE EHRICK

connard and deanna hoffman.png

CONNARD AND DEANNA HOFFMAN

We often receive delightful greetings from Deanna.
I thought the following was exceptional.

There once was a man named Valentine,
Who challenged an edict in his time,
That forbade the marriage of soldier and bride.

For the Emperor feared that this would deride,
The ability of a man to fight without fear
To fight but with heart on the one He held dear.

So Valentine offered a solution to those,
A marriage in secret to those who chose,
To place their lives in The Hands of The Lord,
Choose marriage to bind with God’s strong cord!

For this Valentine was condemned to die,
The last note he wrote, said ” from your Valentine.”

So, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day,
I think of the love that prompted him to pray.

To God who is love in its purest form,
A love that goes far beyond the norm.
A love that so loved, God sent His Son Jesus to die,
Then rise again to sit at Father God’s right side!

Valentine knew the right thing to do,
He chose God’s way, even if his life he would lose!

Will I be like one named Valentine,
Who chose the right even though a crime?
Or will I go along with the flow,
In order to keep the friends that I now know?
Each new day God gives us a choice.
So, whom will you choose from heart and voice?

Joshua said” Choose you this day whom you will serve,
As for me and my house we will serve The Lord.”

A heartfelt congratulations to Barry and Debi on their marriage. Barry has been a faithful supporter and brought countless work groups to the Baja Mission.

Many families and communities in Sinaloa face daily challenges. We have great faith that our Heavenly Father and His overwhelming love can transform lives completely. Foundation For His Ministry is there and ready to help prove it. Please pray for Sinaloa.

Now that he has been sentenced to prison in the U.S. for life,

CHILDREN AT THE BEACH

Cheryl Trevor is the administrator of the Baja Mission school. She writes: "God brought some amazing staff from Canada and the U.S. as part of our school team of teachers. They upgraded our library and dozens of children are reading before we ring the morning bell. We received twenty new children between 8 and 12, some who had never been to school before. They create a challenge for us but it is wonderful to see answered prayer for each. It has taken a lot of effort but the smiles on their faces when they can read are priceless. Our favorite field trip was going to the beach to discover what lives inside the tide pools. The children built sand castles and did a scavenger hunt. They discovered a real octopus. That was a great moment.

glenda mendez.png

GLENDA MENDEZ

Last December, Said and Sarai Mendez received the results of a cat scan done on their daughter Glenda that showed she had a severely damaged left kidney and that the right kidney also had some damage. The doctors scheduled her for surgery this last Monday when they planned to remove the right kidney. But many were praying and after taking Glenda in they discovered that they didn’t need to remove either kidney. They only removed some membranes from one of the kidneys.

We are so grateful to have witnessed this healing miracle from God!

JILL ADAMS AND TIM SMITH

Jill has served for over 11 years with FFHM – first in various roles
at the Oaxaca Mission and then most recently as the Baja Mission Administrator. During those years she also adopted two children from Oaxaca. Many who knew Jill were praying that God would send a husband who would be a partner in ministry and also a father to her children.

Then last year God sent Tim, a kind, handsome and godly man
who desired to serve at the Baja Mission. Jill and Tim are now engaged
and will be married next month in a small ceremony
. We thank God for
His faithfulness and ask that He would bless this marriage.

REVEREND JEAN DARNELL

Reverend Jean graduated to her heavenly reward last week. Jean was a student of Amy Simple McPherson and traveled around the world teaching and preaching the Gospel.
She also had a miraculous healing ministry.

I had the privilege of meeting Jean in 1961 when she was Pastor at Angelus Temple
and a leader in the charismatic movement that encircled the globe.
Elmer and Jean were missionaries to Central America and Australia.

Elmer established a Bible Institute in England and Jean ministered mainly in the Anglican Church there for 25 years. And then they were off to Hawaii and taught at YWAM’s international school with Loren Cunningham. Most recently Jean ministered
at the Church on the Way in Van Nuys, CA.

They held a coin drive which started after Thanksgiving break and continued for about three weeks. I am a fourth grade teacher there, and can proudly say the kids raised over $403! My husband Greg and I added to that to bring that total to $500."

MERCY

Paul Grasser, writes of his granddaughter Mercy, a 13 year old child with special needs: “It’s been over a week since we’ve been back home from treatments
and hospitalizations, and things are looking up! Mercy has been improving cognitively and we are feeling hopeful again. She is remembering memories again, she is dreaming and telling us her dreams. The most amazing part about
all of this news is the fact that her neurologist made it clear to us that
Mercy will not be able to gain back the cognitive abilities that she has lost!
But our God is greater! She is in the hands of The Great Physician!!!
We are witnessing a miracle! And all praise goes to Jesus.

CONSTRUCTION CREW

Laura Rodriguez also writes, “We are thankful for the opportunity to be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the mission here in Oaxaca at the end of this month. People can be praying as we prepare for this event of thanksgiving for all that God has done for us. And they can email me laura@ffhm.org, if they have any questions regarding the celebration or any old photos they would like to share with us."

Twenty-two years ago these two men, Frank Ticknor and Raul Garcia, went out in search of land or property to purchase for the new Oaxaca mission. An unlikely pair, Frank was a visionary and Raul knew his land, the culture, and the language. After 18 months of research the two men had found the site, an abandoned building with 18 acres on the Pan American Highway. Peter Bianchini designed the plans.
A foreman and Elaine and Ian Croft, supervised the project. A building crew from Glad Tidings in Yuba City remodeled the building on the site. It took years to build. Chuck Pereau was on hand to do the cement work.

BILL TENNY

Celebrating Christmas is often very difficult for those who have lost a loved one during that year. Bill, one of our oldest donors, celebrated Christmas in heaven.
But to those who mourn, there’s a vacant place at the table.
