Lamentations 3:32 - “Though He brings grief, He also shows compassion according to the greatness of His unfailing love.”

As we all walk through this time of quarantine and social distancing, I have seen this verse prove true in so many ways. Things are certainly difficult in so many ways – some have lost their jobs and aren’t sure how they are going to pay their bills, some are sick and struggling with their health, some have lost loved ones and others are experiencing deep loneliness as they are isolated from other people.

But despite all of the challenges, what we know for sure if that God is still at work in our lives. Last week when I was starting to feel worried about Mexico and how the virus was going to affect them and feeling sad about our dreams for the future of our ministry in Mexico being put on hold, I decided to start a list of what I see God doing. Here are a few of the things I wrote down:

  • Thanks to friends and partners like you, we have been sustained financially and have not had to consider laying off any of our valuable staff.

  • Being stuck at the Mission has provided a lot of time for one on one discipleship with our children as they are there all the time. I have loved seeing pictures on social media of the creative ways our staff are entertaining and developing our kids.

  • We had dreamed and planned to start a junior high at our Baja Mission so that we can continue educating and discipling our children during their most vulnerable years. Because the kids are now home anyway, the principal Cheryl Trevor, decided we would just start now. Different staff are jumping in to cover the teacher roles.

  • We have been able to minister in the communities around the missions by giving away needed groceries and supplies. This is a wonderful opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

So, how have you seen God at work in your life during this time?
